Cubitron™ II Fibre Disc 982C vs

CUBITRON II
3M™ Cubitron™ II Abrasives
With decades of experience in ceramic, abrasive and
microreplication technologies, 3M has literally
reinvented abrasives with Cubitron™ II products.
Starting with a patented, precision-shaped ceramic
abrasive grain, 3M engineers found a way to
electrostatically orient each triangular structure
to maximize cutting potential.
The result: Each individual precision-shaped ceramic
grain acts like a cutting tool, slicing through
metal like a knife, and continuously self-sharpens
as points break off. This allows 3M™ Cubitron™ II
Belts and Discs to run cooler and keep on
working—long after conventional abrasives have
dulled, shelled, glazed over and been tossed out.

Unique 36+ grade for a revolutionary product
Multiple grading systems have been created as
mineral technology evolves and Cubitron II abrasives
are no exception. Engineered triangular shapes can’t
be boxed into the screens currently used for
grading. But you’ll see how this new mineral cuts
with all the speed and life you’d expect from an
ANSI 36, plus more. Since finish results depend on
the mineral size, variations in applications, and
operator technique, 3M field support is available to
help refine any scratch on any metal.
No matter how you cut it, Cubitron II Discs work
harder
Push yourself to the limit or let the disc do the
work, either way, 982C removes an average of 40%
more material than comparable fibre discs. Finish
more parts with fewer discs regardless of grinding
pressure
When it comes to grinding 304
stainless steel, 3M™ Cubitron™ II Fibre Discs are in
a class by themselves (see chart). Within 15 minutes
of grinding, Cubitron™ II 982C discs removed nearly
twice as much material as the next best ceramic
disc.
This premium fibre disc features 3M's patented new
ceramic mineral. Designed for carbon steel
metalworking applications such as weld grinding,
beveling, flame-cut edge clean-up, and deburring.

As a no-nonsense person, your success comes from results, not
hype. You may doubt that you and a grinding disc or belt can
start a revolution.
But if you could reduce your abrasive costs, increase part
throughput, better leverage your capital equipment, decrease
metal repair and lower your manufacturing costs—all with
abrasive products that cut faster, last longer and require less
grinding pressure—you would truly revolutionize the way you
work.
